This bullet
was originally designed for the .41 Action Express (a cartridge designed for use
to convert a 9mm platform using a cartridge case with a 9mm head.) The bullet
mold selection in .41s is not great and I usually try to offer a light, nominal
and heavyweight in each caliber that I offer. Since I am a huge fan of the .41
Magnum and I love the Silvertip in .41 mag at 170 grains I wanted a target
bullet with which to practice with and this was the closest design I could find.
It is a excellent performer for light duty shooting. While this bullet does not
feature a crimp groove It can be tapered crimped or a light roll crimp can be
applied. If more crimp is desired it can be seated deeper and the roll crimp can
be applied over the front shoulder. I generally find it useful to keep taper
crimp dies for all my revolver calibers as it is not always necessary to use a
roll crimp and excessively cold work the case mouths of the brass cases for
light loads.
