About Our Prices ...

This is the original Government Model Sharps design. It is absolutely a superb performer in any single shot rifle and is the optimum weight for the rate of twist in these guns. This bullet has set records out to 1000 yards.
This bullet is now cast in our 30 to 1 alloy (30 parts lead to one part tin) for blackpowder use.
I also now provide this bullet in an as cast form without lube and it does not need sizing for most applications.
Due to time and manufacturing constraints I can no longer supply these bullets hand lubricated with the blackpowder lube.
I will provide a black powder lube with each order so that you can easily pan or hand lube these bullets yourself for your application.

This will also allow me to lower the cost of these bullets, keep more of them in stock and fill orders more quickly than before and the bullets will also arrive in better condition without the soft BP lube being spread everywhere by the shipping process.

For those individuals who prefer smokeless powder and are looking for the easiest way to duplicate blackpowder ballistics then the powder of choice will be Accurate Arms XMP 5744. 26 to 28 grains with no case filler needed will get the job done. This powder was designed specifically for large bore blackpowder cases and is easy to ignite and is not position sensitive hence no need for the case filler. The only downside to this powder will be some unburned granules that are easy to clean up.
Some people are reluctant to shoot a 500 gr. bullet for fear of heavy recoil, but when loaded to the lower blackpowder velocities the result is not bad. If you are shooting at 200 yards or less the minimum weight bullet that will do well is the 405 grain Round Nose Flat Point Plain Base for these rifles. Beyond that distance the 500 is the superior choice.
